Johnny Appleseed Festival

  • Johnny Appleseed Festival 1502 Harry W. Baals Drive Fort Wayne, IN 46805 United States (map)

"You can't do everything, but you can do something." - Pastor Phil Emerson.

Maybe you can't sing in the choir or play an instrument in the band, but the Johnny Appleseed Festival is a chance to serve.

The money raised at the Johnny Appleseed Festival (September 17-19) will be split equally between Good Shepherd Missions, Good Shepherd Preschool, and the Boy Scouts program. What you do at setup, teardown, or in-between allows the Good Shepherd Family to be the hands and feet of Jesus serving people from ages 2 to 102. This event has the potential to raise up to $20,000!! Imagine the good we can accomplish with that!

Just last month, our Missions committee gave money so that one of our LIFE Groups could create Blessing Boxes filled with toiletries, a blanket, a Bible, and devotional. The LIFE Group took the boxes and dinner to Premier Palace, a women's shelter that provides a safe haven to struggling women that have had recent incarcerations, homelessness, and/or suffered from domestic abuse. The women and their children find a safe place while healing from their past.

The preschool plans to install a rock wall in the gym! Imagine the confidence and motor skill gained as those kiddos conquer the 6’challenge!

The money earned for the Boy Scouts program will be used by a group of young men to further their rank from Scouts to Eagles…what an accomplishment! They need uniforms, camping supplies, and nature experiences.

So as you look through the slots, ask yourself why. “Why would I want to serve on a hot day wearing 1800's period costumes?” And then answer yourself, "Because I want to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I want to make a difference in someone's life." It’s ok to say it out loud.
